The Importance of Following Simple Company Rules

We have a policy in the office that when using our direct lines in making long distance calls, we should log them for easy tracking. There is a need to identify a call whether it is personal or for official business. I constantly remind my office mates regarding this existing policy because they tend to forget about it. There was this one instance when I had a hard time in tracing a call. I could not find it in the log sheet. I spent hours in looking for the details. I handed over the bill to Cherry, our hard working Administrative Assistant. I pointed to her the encircled number and asked her, whose phone number is this? She tried to check it in her directory and found out that it was the mobile number of the photographer she called for an appointment. This only means that she forgot to record the call that she made. This incident made me reiterate the need to follow the company's rule in making long distance calls. The policy was made in order to ensure that delays can be avoided.
