Thankful for having a Mother Like Mine

posted on 24 January 2012

I remember when I was yet a little girl my mom and I would always talk about the future. She listens to me as I tell her my dreams for myself and the family, too. I told her I wanted to be a sport psychologist and although she did not quite understand what it was, she made me feel like she did. My mom was always supportive of what I want to do. She did a great job in making me believe in myself and in the things that I am capable of doing. I thank mom for those little chitchats. I believe that those things were instrumental in making me realize my worth as an individual. I could not ask for a better mother because I have the best. Every time I get the chance, I tell mom how much she means to me. I tell her that it feels good to know that whatever happens to me - whether I make it or not, I have a mom waiting to embrace me just the same.

An Invitation that I Could Not Resist

Just the other day, the secretary handed to me a letter from St. Joseph's Academy. I was surprised to learn that it was actually an invitation for me and my staff to facilitate leadership training for their faculty members. The letter was from the principal no less. But I wondered how come they were asking outsiders to hold such training when they have human resource staff who are very qualified to do the job. A few days later, I got a call from a certain Miss Ivy, making a follow up regarding the invitation. During our brief conversation, Miss Ivy was able to mention that the school was still in the process of restructuring some of the departments, including the Human Resource Department. Although she did not go into details, I sort of understood that something was wrong and I assumed that there was an internal problem going on. Anyway, that's not my business, right? I thought about it for a while and then I committed to it as soon as I realized that it was an opportunity for me to hone my skills further.

How Motherhood Changed Daisy's Life for Good

posted on 24 October 2011

Daisy has just given birth to her first child with Dennis a few days ago. Being a new mom, Daisy is filled with mixed emotions. She is very nervous and even scared of the great responsibility that has come her way. She knew that the baby is the biggest blessing she will ever have, and surely, no mother would want to fail in being a parent to her own child. Although she has Dennis to share the parenting tasks with, she knew in her heart, that the expectations from a mother are way greater than that of the father. She is not complaining though because she has prayed for this child to come for years. Daisy may be anxious in the beginning but as the days go by she realizes even more how blessed she is for having the chance of being a mother. Aside from receiving pamper gifts for new mums, mostly from Dennis and other close friends, Daisy also enjoys the simple things like breastfeeding her baby, among others. As Daisy would say, the world was still and everything was perfect when she held her baby in her arms.
